Free School Seminars
America's Best is proud to offer a wide variety of seminars to schools throughout the Rogue Valley. These seminars include our Karate and Gymnastics series.
Our Karate school seminars focuses on discipline and leadership. In 2005, America’s Best Karate implemented a program titled “Street Safe / School Safe”. This program has evolved around the development of leadership skills and safety awareness for the youth in our community.
We believe that developing leadership skills, such as self-confidence, self-discipline, focus and a sense of commitment in the youth of today builds a stronger and safer society for tomorrow.
This seminar series utilizes our knowledge of the impact that these leadership skills have in a young person’s perspective of personal safety and in their belief that they are capable of making healthy decisions when their personal safety or the safety of a loved one is of concern.
During the informational aspect of the seminar, we encourage open conversation and interaction with the students. A number of topics are discussed, a few being stranger awareness, an individual’s comfort and safety zones, the importance of an open dialogue with parents and responsible adults, how to address bullying, and how one’s body reacts to a sense of fear (adrenaline).
The physical aspect of the seminar involves the concept of self-defense as a means of escape. Strong emphasis is placed on the belief that self-defense is not fighting but using all that you possess in knowledge and physical ability to avoid a physical conflict. Primary focus is centered around escape from the most dire of situations, that being the threat of physical harm by an adult.
America's Best Kids gymnastic seminars teach children about the importance of physical fitness, self-confidence and the fun of fitness. With the ever-increasing budget cuts schools have been forced to eliminate areas in their curriculum, one major area is physical education. All throughout the U.S. schools are being downsized in the physical education program. ABK has reached out to many of our local schools offering to visit the school and teach a physical education class as a community service.
